At Stratford Chiropractic we’re passionate about supporting our clients on their health journey, at all ages and times. With National Spinal Health Week approaching from 26 May to 1 June, we’re shining a light on a modern problem impacting thousands of people, and it’s called Tech Neck.
Did you know there’s over 34 million mobile phone connections and 95% of Australians are accessing the internet via their phones. This usually involves looking down at the screen, which leads to poor posture and neck pain. This year the Australian Chiropractors Association is raising awareness about the impacts of Tech Neck, providing downloadable resources and exercises you can do at home, and offering some great prizes too. Tech Neck – Also Known As Tension Neck Syndrome
Tech neck is caused by prolonged or poor posture, while using electronic devices. Whether it’s scrolling on your phone, typing at your desk, or spending too much time on your laptop, your neck is under strain. In fact, did you know tilting your head just 15 degrees forward can add up to 12kg of force on your spine? Imagine doing that for hours every day. Recent studies show that over 5.3 million Australians experience symptoms related to tech neck, including: neck pain and stiffness; headaches; upper back and shoulder tension; and reduced mobility. In time, these issues can become chronic and impact your quality of life.

National Spinal Health Week Competitions
In conjunction with Spinal Health Week 2025 the Australian Chiropractor’s Association is running two competitions with some great prizes. For the kids aged 12 and under, there’s a colouring in competition with the chance to win a portable karaoke machine (kids aged 7-12) and a light up drawing board (kids aged 6 and under).
