World Spine Day + New Faces

World Spine Day is coming up on 16 October 2021 and is an opportune time to focus on spinal wellbeing, to ensure a healthy and active lifestyle. Did you know that back pain is right up there with lung cancer and heart disease as a leading cause of disease burden experienced by Australians?*

This is something we are all too familiar with at Stratford Chiropractic and know that chiropractic care and other allied health professionals offer a range of clinical services which may be suitable for those looking to improve their spinal health.

Get ‘Back2Back’ this World Spine Day 16 October 2021

The theme of this year’s World Spine Day is to get ‘Back2Back’ and highlights the ways in which staying mobile, adopting healthy eating habits and not overloading your spine, can all help to optimise your spinal health.

One of the easiest ‘changes’ to implement as a part of the ‘Back2Back’ initiative is to start walking and stretch those legs. The Department of Health recommends a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity each week. Walking not only increases heart and lung fitness; but contributes to a naturally upright posture. There are lots of great walking tracks around Cairns, including the ever popular Yellow and Red Arrow tracks, which are just down the road from Stratford Chiropractic.

Stretching and performing regular spinal exercises are another easy and time efficient way to help improve your spinal health – which you can now do at the touch of a button with the Australian Chiropractors Association’s (ACA) Straighten Up app! Featuring a set of simple exercises (and taking just three minutes to complete), their Straighten Up App will help you maintain correct posture no matter where you are! Visit the ACA website for more information.
